101st Anniversary of the Battle of Delville Wood

A ceremony was held at the South African National Memorial at Delville Wood, Longueval on Sunday 9th July 2017. The service to mark the 101st anniversary of the Battle of Delville Wood was preceded by the inauguration of Rue de l'Afrique du Sud (South Africa Street) by His Excellency Ambassador Rapulane Molekane.

From Thursday 8 to Sunday 11 November 2018, each person is invited to visit one of the 318 military cemeteries of the Somme (see the map below) and to put a flower on a soldier’s grave or a war memorial.
