Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Battle of Cantigny

Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Battle of Cantigny

Saturday 26 May 2018 - From 09h00 to 18h00

The Battle of Cantigny (28 May 1918) was a comparatively small battle in World War I, but it was the first major offensive undertaken by the American Expeditionary force.

The AEF's success in beating back the Germans was a tremendous victory for the morale of the Allies, and validated General Pershing's argument that the Americans were better off fighting independently than as reinforcements for the British and French.

To mark this pivotal moment in American involvement in the Great War, the ABMC will hold a ceremony at 9.30am on 26 May 2018 commemorating the men who fought and died in the battle
